The paper ticket validation system is not the current best solution as now exists many better technological solutions such as the Automated Fare Collection. However as the upgrade is considered costly and not feasible for Budapest, improving the current system can be a start.Below are the improvement starting triggers. 

1-The BKK paper tickets’ material is made from very thin paper that causes trouble while validating.

2- The ticket’s design doesn’t clearly refer to which side should the ticket be validated, even if both sides could be validated.

3- The validation machine needs to show the status of validation and wether it is working or not (have ink or not).

4-The ticket vending machines software could use few tweaks for better usability.

5-BKK can use rebranding with better reference to Budapest’s culture, and to promote the new tickets and validation system.
